Completing the registration process will serve as acknowledgement that all parties agree to the terms of the lesson fees and policy.

Overview

​Lessons are offered virtually through Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts in 30 minute increments for adult beginner flutists and pianists. Want to learn a song, improve your sound, and/or learn to read music? Whatever you goal we will discuss a plan during the first lesson to help you achieve it by the end of the 10 lessons.

Lesson fees are due before the start of the lesson.  

Scheduling

​The lesson calendar is available on the website and in the signature line of emails sent. The lesson calendar will observe Maryland school holidays and breaks. Students can opt to keep lessons during select holidays excluding New Year's Day, Hanukkah, U.S. Independence Day, Political Voting Days,  and Christmas.  The student must confirm future vacation/holidays to be observed once the calendar is reviewed. business hours & Communication

Business operating hours are from 12pm-8:30pm on Mon.-Tues. and Thurs.- Fri. and from 10am-1pm on Saturdays. Any requests made outside of these hours will be address during the next business day.

Attendance

 
If the student is not present at the time of the lesson nor confirmed a delay with the instructor, the instructor will wait for 10 minutes before cancelling. Lessons that start late at the fault of the student late will still be assessed the original lesson fee and end at the scheduled time. Lessons that are cancelled or start late at the fault of the instructor will be made up at a rescheduled time determined by the student and instructor.

Virtual lessons are NOT be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.  In the rare instance of extreme weather events which may cause power outages, virtual lessons can be rescheduled.

Students may be subject to lose their preferred lesson time if they miss 3 or more consecutive lessons without a 24 hour cancellation notice.

Payment methods

Payment can be made by credit/debit card through Pay Pal. Your payment records can be tracked in your personal account if your payment is submitted through PayPal.
Bundle Package
Ten 30 minute lessons. Scheduled bi-weekly to allow enough practice time for busy adults.

Performance opportunities

Performing for an audience is a great tool for learning. Virtual students that reside in or near Maryland or Virginia are invited to participate in local recitals hosted throughout the year. Student who reside outside of the region are encouraged to find performance opportunities in their communities. Support to find performance opportunities in your community will be provided as needed.

cancellation policy

Lessons are scheduled bi-weekly. Missed lessons will NOT be made up nor refunded.  Our goal is to ensure you remain consistent to the goal you set for your self. More so lessons are significantly less effective when they are inconsistent or with long breaks in between them

Virtual lessons

Virtual lessons are only available for beginner piano or  flute students who have already demonstrated the ability to consistently produce a full tone through their instrument.  

Items You Will Need:

• Your music, music stand, tuner/metronome
• Gmail account
• Reliable Wi-Fi 
• A quiet space with bright lighting
• Desktop computer/laptop/mobile device with web camera to view student from the waist up.
• (For mobile devices you will need to download the Google Hangout app.)

Start a Hangout conversation or video call
Note: If you’re using the Hangouts Chrome extension, Hangouts conversation windows started at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail will open outside of the browser window.

1. Open Hangouts at hangouts.google.com or in Gmail.
2. In the search box, type in "theurbanflautista@gmail.com". When you find the person you want, click their name.
3. Choose the type of Hangout you want to start: --> Select "video call"

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Be prepared to bring the following to every lesson:

Tuner - for flute and piccolo
​Metronome
Manuscript Paper or Book(preferably wire bound)
Lesson/Method Books - Music study books will be determined during lessons.
Sharpened pencil
Music stand
For Piano Students: Keyboard/Piano with music stand and stool.
